Boston: New mixed group Noteworthy8 seeks all voice parts!

Postby matador95 » Tue Oct 18, 2016 5:40 am

Do you enjoy singing diverse all vocal repertoire in a fast paced, challenging, yet fun atmosphere? Look no further than Noteworthy8!
We are currently looking for all voice parts to launch this exciting new group!

The group will perform anything from Medieval and Renaissance pieces, complete choral works, modern “academic” repertoire, top 40 popular music, folk songs, spirituals, and complex jazz harmonies. Nothing is off limits!

The N8 concept is a little different than most a cappella groups. We will put together complete programs of 60-75 minutes that share a common topic: it could be pieces by one artist, composer or lyricist, a complete choral work, songs with a similar theme, etc. The music director will program ~60% of the repertoire for the entire ensemble, the remaining portion will be selected and performed by subsets of the group – duo, trio, quartet, etc. – giving the singers added challenge and allowing everyone to explore different musical avenues.

Prior vocal, choral or a cappella experience is required. (Ability to maintain your own part without assistance and/or accompaniment.)
Strong sight reading ability or the willingness to learn music outside of rehearsal is also required (Note learning will not be done in rehearsal).
Commitment to one rehearsal a week (possibly more at the start) in Boston (T-accessible)
One to two performances a month (will vary) in the greater Boston/southern NE area.
Desire to make frequent recordings – CDs, SoundCloud audio and potentially video, such as YouTube
Solo singing ability is encouraged. However, ensemble singing is the main focus of the group.
Arranging ability is a plus, but not required.
