The Valentine's Day Online A Cappella Competition 2011!

Hi everyone! To mark my return to full-time a cappella production, as well as Russell Kamp's entry into the scene, we've decided to join forces and present the first-ever Valentine's Day Online A Cappella Competition! Here's how it'll work:

1) Submit a great LIVE recording (sorry, no studio recordings, please) of your group's best song in either MP3 format or a YouTube link, to freeacatrack@gmail.com
DEADLINE: Mar 14, 2011.

2) We'll select the winner, and results will be announced by Mar 21, 2011 on this forum.

3) The winning group/song will receive a studio arrangement consultation, followed by on-site recording and editing by Russell Kamp, FREE.*

4) Following which, the track will be mixed and mastered by Tat Tong, FREE.

*Only applies to groups in the continental United States

All participants will also receive a 10% discount on subsequent recording, editing, mixing and mastering services by Russell Kamp and Tat Tong, valid till 31 Dec 2011.

Russell Kamp got into recording by accident after recording his own group, UO Mind The Gap (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/MindtheGap). After mixing the album with Bill Hare, he was hooked and continued to record and edit a cappella for other groups while finishing college. Feb 2011 marks the debut of this young and talented engineer into the recorded a cappella scene.

Hi all,

I just received some enquiries from one-man-vocal-band type outfits, so here goes...

If your act involves you singing all parts, and due to that reason, you don't have a LIVE recording to submit, we'll accept a studio-recorded, UNEDITED song submission. The reason for the requirement was to level the playing field, but we hadn't considered this special group of individuals. So... submit away! :)

Is there a possibility of listing video links onces all submissions are in? I'd love to see some other submissions (of course it would be nice to qualitatively observe them all myself :-P) but also it would be cool for outside observers to see what people came up with for this opportunity.

How time flies! It's now a month after Valentine's Day... which means the competition's officially closed. </aww>

Russell and I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entries, which were of very high quality overall. Stay tuned for the results next week!
