Do you have a hall pass? Then report to the principal's office. Pretty much all of your posts evoke a hardy Meh.

as interesting as this conversation is... ;-) here are some of my thoughts on the album:

first off: i can hardly fathom how much time this album took to make, so they have my high respect for that. there are some great arrangements here as well as some good soloists. plus, this one has some of the coolest, most realistic VP i've heard from a collegiate group; however, it's generally mixed too low for my tastes. i also agreed with one of the reviewers that some of the soloists were mixed a bit too loud, so sometimes you can't really appreciate the cool ensemble work. my only other complaint was a lack of personality on some of the tracks. i don't know exactly what i mean except to say that a few tracks just seemed to be missing that special something to take it from "very good" to "incredible". perhaps this is nit-picking, but with a cd so technically perfect, it happens.

some highlights: as i mentioned - the VP is killer. i'm definitely taking notes from this one... as for the opening song, thank you for choosing a soloist who doesn't have to sing Journey in falsetto, and yet still has the power to deliver it! next, i was really impressed with the hip-hop tracks. of course they're probably simple arrangements, but unlike most a cappella attempts at hiphop, they didn't stink of severe "whiteness". lastly, they get lots of respect for a good, somewhat eclectic tracklist: several songs i hadn't heard, others i hadn't heard in a long time, a good original song, and one of my all-time favorites from Caedmon's Call (the first a cappella cover of CC i've heard, in fact).

overall the album would get a 4/5 from me, for what it's worth. one of my more prized christmas presents!

congrats on making BOCA!

I definately think it is one of the strongest albums overall that i have ever heard in the collegiate area. WHY? because it is very repeat listenable, and because while there may not be one area where they kill all the competition there is also not an area where i feel they are weak. great cd....kudos gents....!!!
